A downloadable game for Windows

Incomplete prototype based on a full design done for class, that aims to simulate the experience of different Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder elements through various minigames.

The design includes minigames based on:

  • Bad Memory - Many people with ADHD liken their poor memory to a lack of object permanence. The idea of this mini game is to be a sort of hidden object puzzle: the player knows where the missing pieces are and where they fit, but they can only move one at a time and the pieces they are not interacting with are slowly being removed, forgotten until it is impossible to put them back in their place.
  • Mental Hyperactivity - In this mini game, the objective is for the player to last as long as possible, jumping between concepts very quickly. However, the player will have to think about the choices they make, as the concepts may or may not be related to what is currently selected. The mental associations that someone with ADHD makes often seem almost inexplicable, but in fact they are leaps that occur due to the speed of these same associations.
  • Inattention -In this mini game, the player lives a day dealing with the duality of lack of focus and hyperfocus. He has to plan his day, according to a list of tasks and try to stay focused on them, without getting distracted by momentary interests that will lead him to fall down a hole, forgetting everything around him.
  • Physical Hyperactivity - Just like the previous mini game, the player must deal with a list of tasks, but this time not with the aim of staying focused. In this game, the player will have to deal with situations that will lead to restless movements, which he will have to manage by forcing himself to notice and stop these behaviors (something that most people with ADHD are forced to do in their daily lives). day, masking) or through the use of stimming toys.
  • Emotional Dysregulation
  • Impulsivity - In this mini game, the player is led to act without thinking. While in others the player is presented with different everyday situations in which he must make choices and is encouraged to meditate on them (taking into account a time limit or not), in this case the time limit is not only present but also short. enough so that the player doesn't think, just chooses and suffers the consequences. This is a bit like how impulsivity is felt by people with ADHD, a direct connection between the idea coming up and doing the action, with the thinking about these happening almost after the moment has passed.
  • Sensory Sensitivity - Stimming toys are not only used for situations where the user does not feel stimulated enough, but also in situations where too much stimulation occurs. This and other techniques must be used by the player in this mini game to deal with situations that put him at risk of sensory overload. To do this, he has to be aware of the small signs that indicate when this is about to happen, and deal with them.

Only the initial implementation for one of the minigames ("Bad Memory") was done, with the rest hopefully being done in the future.
Available in both Portuguese and English.
